The Triplett’s Take Dubai!

International travel can be scary for some when you are visiting parts of the world in which you are unfamiliar. Even though you may have heard that these places are fabulous with lots of fabulous things to do and a must see if you ever get the chance to go, fear can and will hold you back from expanding on your horizons.

Dubai, one of the most luxurious travel destinations, is located in the U. A.E., United Arab Emirates, a Muslim country, but is open to people of all ethnicities from around the world. Of course there are certain rules and customs in which you must adhere to, but what country doesn’t have them, even the U.S.

This trip was talked about and tossed around back in December, but no final plans were made until we received an Facebook inbox on how someone could make this a special trip for us. We looked at the cost and left it alone. Wanting to travel solely for pleasure, that doesn’t happen often in our lives as work always kicks in, we thought this would be place to go and live it up. Well, the latter was true, we went and lived it up, but it wasn’t just for pleasure. Work kicked in and we are not complaining. So what did we do? Where do I start???

In front of Marco Polo Hotel

Upon arrival, we noticed it wasn’t as hot as we thought it was going to be which made for a most pleasant trip. The weather was actually perfect for a desert. Not to hot, not too cold. Even at night. The ride from the airport was quite a discovery as we had no idea in which area our hotel was located. We dropped off other people from our shuttle which seemed to be in more of an impoverished area. Not sure if Dubai has ghetto’s but we could tell it was a working class neighborhood. We were quite happy with our hotel, Marco Polo. It was centrally located from shopping and walking distance to four mosques within the area. The bus terminal, where we hopped a ride to Al-Ain, another one of the Emirates, was not far either. The daily breakfast was buffet style which offered everything you could imagine and made you feel as if you were on a cruise ship. Cook to order omelets and Belgium waffles along with cultural dishes as well. Everything in the country is halal, Muslim standard of food, so there wasn’t any hesitation to eat everything. We ate our share and then some.We would definitely stay there again.

Book Singing in Al-Ain, U.A.E.

The first night was our book signing in Al-Ain. It’s the emirate where the majority of the royal family was born and maintain palaces that would put Beverly Hills to shame. The city also boasts of a new soccer stadium that rivals any football stadium in the US. Driving in the city may make your head spin as it’s full of roundabouts and mass confusion. Put on your seat belt and hang on for the ride because cars just go as they please. We were able to enjoy McDonalds this night. Haven’t eaten McDonalds in years so this was a real treat.

Burj Al Arab, Only Seven Star Hotel in the World

Organized city tours takes you to some of the hot spots. We were able to bask in the Arabian Sea, look at from a distance the Burj Al-Arab, the only seven star hotel in the world, a visit to the museum of Old Dubai see to how it was built up from just a fort, the Gold Market where shopping is oh so fabulous as well as a stop at the only mosque that is allowed visits by non-Muslims in Dubai. You can fly over and book the tours yourself or you can can have someone put a trip together for you. Since this was business and pleasure, everything was booked for us. We did a few side shuffles to go shopping but other than that we were pre-scheduled for everything.

Oh, that Camel Ride

Most asked about was our desert safari. Out of the city, way out of the city in the middle of nowhere, a land cruiser picks you up to go dune bashing. What is that? In simplest terms, a roller coaster ride up & down the sand dunes. It gets pretty bumpy and kinda scary not knowing what’s over the next hill. Check the video. The sand was warm and mushy and gets in your mouth quickly. We rode a camel and dined in the desert. Check that off the bucket list.

Dubai is the place for fashion. We shared numerous pics via our Facebook Page becasue it was just something that you needed to see. Over 400 pictures time lining the complete journey of our trip. From the pre boarding of Emirates at Orlando International Airport, live on wi-fi in flight, what we ate, where we stayed, a few items that were purchased, etc. If you want to see more just check out the album. There are also three Facebook LIVE videos from Dubai. Video One. Video Two. Video Three.

In Dubai Mall before going up in Burj Khalifah

The last day in town we visited Dubai Mall, the largest mall in the world. Mall of America has nothing on this place. They really seem to be into largest this, largest that over there lol. Also at the mall is the entrance to Burj Khalifah, the tallest building in the world. We went up 125 floors and enjoyed the view. It’s not for the faint at heart, but it is an experience like nothing else.

That brings me to why this trip was possible. One word, work. If you are not familiar with our business, our company Dawah International, LLC, is a multimedia company. We have our hands in several things media wise which is a business that provides many perks. Going to Dubai to film our TV show, Lifestyles with Rufus & Jenny is just one of those perks. Doing a book signing and taking our Surviving Marriage platform global was icing on the cake.

Where to next for the Triplett’s? We have been getting requests from the UK & South America. God only knows what direction we will head but after making several contacts on this trip, we will definitely be back to Dubai.
